Michaela Schicker learned the craft of bow making from her father, Horst Schicker, in Baiersdorf, near Bubenreuth, between 1987 and 1990. She has continued working in the family workshop since she completed her apprenticeship. in 1994 Michaela Schicker did her masterīs examination in bow making under the auspices of the HWK Nueremberg; she is one of the first woman to have done so. Since this time she has stamped her bows MICHAELA I. SCHICKER.
The work on her bows shows the German "school" of the workshop she learned in. In both the model and general form of her work one can still see the training of her father even though her own individual style still comes through clearly.
